The art of tying with ropes – called shibari or kinbaku in Japanese – is a body practice that offers an impressive spectrum of physical, mental and emotional experiences. Shibari has much in common with dance, yoga, and meditation, and has a performative and touching aesthetic dimension.
As a somatic practice, it opens up new possibilities of body- and self-awareness, sometimes unfolding transformative processes. Inspired by the medium of rope, the tying and the tied can creatively shape their ritualised encounter, in empathetic communication and mutual surrender, in trusting play with power and submission, in deep connection and intensity.

A bondage jam is similar to a tango milonga – just be there and join in!
Everyone who wants to tie together, exchange about shibari, or just watch and have some first experiences is cordially invited. We welcome all visitors, from the curious to the professionals.
There are eight hanging points, some with bamboo poles, so that it is also possible to work with suspensions.

At about every second jam, a short introduction for people who are participating for the first time will be offered. This covers first basics and especially the important safety and consent issues.

Every two to three months we hold either a FINTA or a QUEER Bondage Jam. FINTA stands for “Female, Inter, Nonbinary, Trans, Agender” and is primarily about providing a space where people who identify as such can just be with each other. People who do not identify as FINTA, please stay away from the event. QUEER stands for the pleasure of queering – understood as a verb – it’s about being queer as well as queer performing & bondage, because bondage games often take on heteronormative forms, which is fine, but we want to try how you can inventively experience something completely different. Please only come to the QUEER Bondage Jam if you bring a desire for active queering. If you have any questions about these topics, please feel free to contact us.

An easy and playful one-day introduction for beginners, or a useful refresher for people who have already attended a beginners’ course and want to refresh their knowledge. We teach the very basics and deal with fundamental questions of safety and consent.
This short course can serve as an excellent taster for those unable to take the long course yet. It is ideal preparation for the shibari Floorwork and Partial Suspension workshops. If you can, we highly recommend attending the whole weekend, as a single day with ropes goes by incredibly quickly!
This weekend workshop expands the basics of tying with ropes in the Japanese-inspired style.
In addition to fundamental and improvisation techniques, some classical patterns, and tying strategies, we will focus on body awareness and position, as well as on interaction and communication between partners.
We’ll experience bondage as a playful connecting ritual and – by playing with closeness and distance, shelter and intensity, aesthetics and simplicity, presence and creativity – expand our repertoire for creating new and unexplored body perceptions.
While we stayed grounded in the Floorwork course, we take off – a little bit – in Partial Suspension.
In Shibari there is suspension bondage, where the tied up person is pulled up and suspended from a fixed point from the ceiling, a beam or a bamboo pole. What requires a lot of skill and looks spectacular also offers a particular sensual experience, which we approach playfully in this course with partial suspensions.
