Feldenkrais method
The Feldenkrais Method is a learning practice in which you explore your movement patterns through slow variations, pausing and repetition.
It trains your physical, mental and emotional awareness and helps you to find new possibilities in movement.
Physical pain, emotional discomfort, birth limitations or the wish to improve an existing ability are areas where the Method can give you support.
In individual lessons you are touched precisely and moved gently. In group lessons you move yourself following verbal instructions. Both formats work with the same principles and can complement each other.
Awareness through movement
The Feldenkrais Method can help you find new spontaneity, improve your own inherent resources, overcome unhelpful patterns related to stress and movementt, improve your coordination and stability, and give you more ease and self-confidence.
Among other things, it can be helpful in these areas:
- Stress and anxiety
- Depressive feelings
- Psychosomatic symptoms
- Chronic pain
- Musculoskeletal disorders
- Tension pain
- Rehabilitation after injuries or surgeries
- Support in neurological illnesses
In all this, it is also a practice of self-awareness. It gives you time, provides specific advice, encourages you to try things out and make mistakes and can rebuild connections within yourself and in the world outside.
The method is named after its developer Moshé Feldenkrais (1904 – 1984), who in it integrated knowledge from pedagogy, biomechanics, brain research, manual therapy, psychology and martial arts.
